Introducing Salem Foxx
My name is Salem Foxx and I began taking dance classes before I was three years old, and I live and breathe dance.
When I was younger, I was fortunate to perform in four productions with the Royal New Zealand Ballet. This cemented my love of performing and wanting to become a professional dancer.
I have gained distinctions in my vocational exams which include ballet, contemporary, jazz and tap. For the last two years, I have been nominated for Nationals in contemporary and made it into the finals at the most recent. I was also nominated for jazz.
I love to choreograph all my own dances, with which I have received many trophies and awards with top placings in competitions, even dancing, competing and winning en pointe.
My other achievements include:
2014 Pride Awards (Wellington) “Creative Achievement and Innovation (Senior) Award”
2014 Kapiti District Council’s Shout Out Awards “Expression Award”
2015 ANCA INAP (Canada) “Performing Arts (Youth )Award”
2015 Attitude (New Zealand) “Creative Achievement Award”
I also performed at the 2016 Attitude Awards.
Variety “Gold Heart Scholarship” for three years running from 2012 to 2014
Junior Contemporary Major with the New Zealand School of Dance’s Associate programme in 2014
I enjoy all dance styles and attend as many seminars and workshops as I can, recently attending workshops for hip hop, contemporary, ballet and musical theatre. I am continuing my vocational training, sitting solo diplomas, and I have started my teaching papers.
